  • An order of polypetalous plants, unlike the others in the cohort Polygalinæ in its irregular flowers, and characterized by its three or five petals, usually eight monadelphous stamens, straight embryo in fleshy albumen, and five sepals, of which the two inner are larger, wing-like, and petaloid.
