  • A ceremony in the parish church of St. Mary in Blidworth, Nottinghamshire, on the Sunday nearest February 2nd (Feast of the Purification of Blessed Virgin Mary), where the last male child baptized in the parish is presented to the vicar. The vicar lays the child in a cradle in front of the altar, that is decorated with flowers. The child is rocked about a dozen times, representing the presentation of the Christ Child in the temple - revived at Blidworth in 1922 after a nearly 400-year hiatus.
