• noun A subfamily of synentognathous fishes, represented by the genus Scomberesox, which has been variously limited, but is generally restricted to those Scomberesocidæ which have the maxillary ankylosed with the premaxillary, both jaws produced, and both anal and dorsal fins with finlets.
