  • A subfamily of Carangidæ, typified by the genus Seriola, with the premaxillaries protractile, the pectoral fins short and not falcate, maxillaries with a distinct supplemental bone, and the anal fin shorter than the second dorsal. It includes the amber-fishes, pilot-fish, etc. See cuts under amber-fish and Naucrates.
