Please help me with the meaning of this phrase. This is from an insurance policy "Accident means the unforeseen occurence of an event that results in injury or accidental injury to insured person WHOLLY INDEPENDENT" of disease, bodily infirmity, illness, infection or any physical condition". Does "wholly independent" in this context mean "excluding" disease, bodily infirmity etc. Thank you very much for all thoughts.

It means you're covered by the accident, but if you develop gangrene and have to have a leg chopped off due to infection they'll try to weasel out of paying. I'd look into medical insurance as well as accident insurance.

If there is anything significant at stake you should talk to a lawyer, or at least find an online site that claims legal expertise. My layman’s understanding of this is that “accident” is defined as an event that results in an injury, and that the injury must be entirely as a result of the accident itself and that no illness, infirmity, etc., of the person injured can have contributed to the injury. There is lots of wriggle room in there and wriggling is what insurance companies are good at.
