- A superfamily section of feline fissiped carnivorous mammals, typified by the cat family, Felidæ, and containing also the families Cryptoproctidæ, Protelidæ, Hyænidæ, Viverridæ, and Eupleridæ (but not the family Æluridæ): distinguished as a series from the Cynoidea or canine series, and the Arctoidea or ursine series (to which the family Æluridæ belongs).
