Bakka is the sf bookstore that I worked at in the late 80s/early 90s -- many other sf writers are Bakka alumni, including Michelle Sagara (Michelle West), Tanya Huff, Nalo Hopkinson, Robert J Sawyer and others.

The store that had a copy and is waiting for more is Bakka-Phoenix; I'm not sure who their distributor is, but like I said, they have most of Pyr's other titles, and are generally most excellent.

Then again, Bakka Phoenix is a specialty, independent bookstore, so maybe it's clientele is different then what I'd see and they'd be more apt to question the nature of publication more than other readers.

I worked at Bakka, the science fiction bookstore, when it was just a few doors down from Pages (which has a phenomenal periodicals and underground, design, art, and culture book sections, as well as some of the friendliest, most knowledgeable staff you could hope to meet), and I remember when we lost our lease after a rent hike.
