Jammu, January 10 (Vijay Kumar) - The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). shall provide adequate landline and mobile telephone connectivity during the Amarnathji Yatra 2010, along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes to the Holy Cave, for the convenience of the pilgrims.

Baltal (Sonamarg), June 8 - The fresh snowfall in the upper reaches of the Kashmir Valley, during the past three days, has covered various stretches of the tracks leading to the Holy Cave of Shri Amarnathji from the Baltal and Pahalgam sides, with around two feet snow.

Out of 8,311 pilgrims, who gave presence in holy cave on Sunday, 6,315 yatris reached back to Baltal while as rest of the pilgrims are on their way from Pahalgam route.

While the track and the camp areas at Sheshnag, Mahagunas Top and Poshpathri are still under thick snow cover, on the Baltal side, the two kilometers stretch from Sangam to the Holy Cave has also come under fresh snow adversely affecting the movement of pony and pithus on the Baltal-Holy Cave route.

At Baltal, the Board officials went round the Base Camp and reviewed the pace of progress on the installation of toilet blocks, preparation of langer and tenting sites and provision of other facilities.

The Board reviewed the status of the ongoing Yatra and the various other measures taken for ensuring the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage via both the routes of Pahalgam and Baltal.

Referring to the environment protection and pollution control measures, Mr. Vyas said that the Shrine Board had, for the first time, set up eco-friendly biological-based Sewerage Treatment Plants at the Baltal and Nunwan Base Camps, besides taking all other required measures at the enroute Camps, and in theHolyCavearea to ensure protection of environment and ecology.
