Okay, and having read some of the comments on Amazon, discussing whether the portrayal of Chin-Kee was appropriate/racist/etc.,

The closest it ever really comes to my understanding of myself is in Danny, the white character whose stereotypified Chinese cousin Chin-Kee makes his life a teenage hell on an annual basis, who actually turns out to be the main character Jin — so Danny represents a truly whitewashed/assimilated Asian American.
