But, I think DB is right that people who want to be in power often want to be there primarily b/c of other reasons.
So DB is criticizing a NJ court opinion based on his bald (and arguably incorrect) assertion of the “usual meaning” of a statutory term — in contrast to the opinion he criticizes, which goes on for pages providing a detailed analysis of the meaning of the term in the context of the legislative intent and history.
Could it be that DB is not saying these are definitional but rather merely some attributes among others?
No, saying that because DB is a Jew, he (“of all people”) is under special obligation to condemn Israel is — well, okay, racist is an imprecise word, as Jews are not a race.
And I think you will find those individuals most often, though not exclusively, participating in DB threads.
DB is right in describing the symptoms, but not the cause which is that Israel has recognized (as have all rational people) that the military solution is the only solution in that part of the world.
DB is quite right that it makes little sense to tie the early Progressive movement to either modern liberalism or even to modern Progressivism.
This was all talk before, and they were hampered, but now they can really deliver where an embedded simple DB is a better fit, MySql improved with some sauces, or high end Fusion app servers packaged on scalable hardware.
The best interpretation of DB is that he means this to be his definition of progressive.
Heck, you can even complain that DB is not criticizing other groups for secretly promoting other agendas (though DB has responded to that criticism before).
