A comment utility is a comment utility for me at the end of the day, but there is one thing I prefer with Disqus, which is that it doesn't restrict the amount of words per comment or if it does, I haven't reached it yet!

The solution now employed on The Independent's website uses a system called Disqus, and it's a nice halfway house; by linking your comments with your other social media profiles - be it Yahoo, Twitter or Facebook - it doesn't rule out the option of pseudonymity, but does enough to at least make us consider the consequences of rude or threatening behaviour.

The one gotcha is that if you're using a third party comment service (such as Disqus) then it's unlikely that the relevant tags are going to be in your feed so you may not get this feature to show up.
