Elora

I'm quite looking forward to a choral concert in Elora this evening ( "Cantus" on this program) and another choral concert on Sunday ( "Paradise Found").

I'm so happy that the heat-spell broke; it even did so without raining out our 3rd Elora Festival concert in the Gambrel Barn.

I remember the great success in Elora where the little Anglican Church started a festival of mostly classical music and put the town on the map.

After they spent a lot of energy trying to sweep away the (many hundreds of litres of) water, they ultimately moved the concert to Knox Presbyterian Church in downtown Elora, where the show did indeed go on, only an hour after it was supposed to.

My mini-vacation took me to Kitchener, Orangeville, Woodstock, Cambridge, Guelph, Elora, Freelton, St. Jacobs and Fergus, where I visited some old friends and family and made some new friends, including Quinn and Branden.

So we drove a fair distance out of our way, and back, and by the time we got directions and headed back towards Elora, it was getting late in the day.

And the Elora Festival has theatre and singing throughout a large part of the year (a few years back I caught the original silent Phantom Of The Opera with Lon Cheney Sr, played in a candlelit church to live organ music - fabulous).
