In the mid to late afternoon there would be what locally is called, the Fremantle Doctor, a sea breeze from the west bringing much welcomed relief on the hot summer days.
The Fremantle Doctor is presumably what it has always been: a second element that makes cricket at the WACA unique, coming up the Swan River in early afternoon so strongly that from the pavilion end only a crafty spinner or medium-pace outswing bowler is not blown away.
In a recent one-day match here, Siddle was clocked at 95mph, but he will have to make sure he is bowling with the Fremantle Doctor and not into it, if he is to match that speed.
The Fremantle Doctor is due to start blowing soon.
