Grevillea

The dominant vegetation in the Park is open woodland and spinifex (spiny hummockgrass) grassland, with many eucalypts, acacias and grevilleas; notably silverleaf bloodwood Eucalyptus collina and roughleaf range gum E. aspera, The regionally endemic sandstone grevillea Grevillea miniata, and rock grevillea G. psilantha, are found only in the Park.

The smaller sandstone outcrops and sandsheets derived from sandstone support either eucalypt open woodlands with a hummock grass (Triodia spp.) understory or heathlands dominated by Grevillea and Acacia spp.

There, we found a beautiful new Grevillea. 84 The STENOCHILUS PUBIFLORUS formed a willow-leaved shrub about twelve feet high, and in the sandy bed of the river was an EUPHORBIA very near E. HYPERICIFOLIA, but with narrower leaves, and the ovary pubescent not glabrous.

They should tolerate pruning (i.e. the cutting of branches) and regenerate well afterwards (e.g. Grevillea robusta or Cordia species) so that their leaves can be used as fodder and the shading of crops can be controlled.
