Hieraaetus

Raptors amongst the stabilised sands include 15 breeding pairs (about a tenth of the world's population) of the Spanish imperial eagle Aquila heliaca adalberti (VU), black vulture Aegypius monachus, short-toed eagle Circaetus gallicus, booted eagle Hieraaetus pennatus, buzzard Buteo buteo, black kite Milvus migrans, black-shouldered kite Elanus caeruleus, red kite M. milvus, and hobby Falco subbuteo.

Forest birds include green ibis Mesembrinibis cayennensis (local Mount Kenya race), Ayre's hawk eagle Hieraaetus dubius, Abyssinian long-eared owl Asio abyssinicus, scaly francolin Francolinus squamatus, Ruppell's robin-chat Cossypha semirufa, and numerous sunbirds (Nectariniidae).

Species that pass through the Nile Delta Flooded Savanna ecoregion include white stork (Ciconia ciconia), black stork (Ciconia nigra), European crane (Grus grus) and white pelican (Pelecanus onocrotalus), as well as numerous birds of prey, including short-toed eagle (Circaetus gallicus), booted eagle (Hieraaetus pennatus), steppe eagle (Aquila nipalensis), lesser spotted eagle (Aquila pomarina), steppe buzzard (Buteo buteo), honey buzzard (Pernis apivorus) and levant sparrowhawk (Accipter brevipes).
