Sorry for the populist overtones of this, but I'm a Midwesterner and son of a farmer, and I'm starting to wish for some old-fashioned, "Fighting Bob" Lafollette/Teddy Roosevelt fire and brimstone -- both Republican Progressives, as a matter of fact -- to start raining down on Washington in general, and the K-street boys and girls in particular.
