As you said, the Kruskal-Szekeres diagram shows that the region of spacetime that the ingoing particles find themselves in after crossing the horizon is different from the region of spacetime that the outgoing particles came from before crossing the horizon, so I guess it is only in these interior regions that it really makes sense to talk about a “white hole” and a “black hole” as fundamentally different objects.
