Uncle Mark recommends the HP Laserjet 1020, but from what I see online it's rather a hassle to get the Mac drivers, as it's not officially supported.

So, we got rid of our HP Laserjet 4M Plus, because fixing it cost more than buying a new, better printer, but that left me with a toner cartridge that I can no longer use.

When I got there 24 hours later usually too late for to catch the deal not only was it still there, but a newer Color Laserjet 4550 that is compatible with Tim's computer was also there, also free.

Buy a used printer, preferrably one that was popular and reliable (Laserjet series are always a good buy).
