I recieved 2 other descriptions of Lake pipes from 2 other readers, one who seems to remember "Lake" being the pipe manufacturers name, another pointing out that the Lake pipes were used opened up (uncapped) on dry lake beds, such as Muroc, for dry-lake bed time trials.
