Though I personally am of the 'middle' Trek generation (the generation that started out watching mostly Next Generation and Voyager with only a fair sprinkling of Original), I can safely say that I too was hit was a blast of nostalgia, sentiment, excitement, and ambition from the moment the Kelvin collided with the Narada to the moment Leonard Nimoy's voice whispered the opening sequence and the Original theme played over the credits.
