While there's a lot more to the well-conceived plot and I'd hate to ruin the surprises, much of the focus is on the battle between the "Normals" - those who are opposed to augmentation, can't afford it or whose bodies won't accept the implants - and the "Augs," about 20% of the world with cybernetic parts that give additional strength, smarts and other abilities.
