  • PDA or Pathological Demand Avoidance is a subtype of autism where any demands (external, internal, self-made, anything) are potentially interpreted as threats to autonomy, threatening the person's sense of control, which their anxiety desperately grasps onto to navigate a neurotypical world. Others may view it as disrespect towards authority, but can also stem from activities they like, or bodily needs like food, bathroom, and sleep from themselves. It's not obstinance for attention, but a response to a threat to survival.
