Sudano

Open forest and savanna woodland characteristic of the Sudano-Guinean zone occupies about 90% of the area, and gallery forest and dense dry forest, about 10%.

Sudano-Sahelian vegetation encircles Bandiagara and Sangha, dominated by open savanna and steppe with scattered Acacia raddiana, A. albida, Balanites aegyptiaca and Cenchrus ciliaris.

The climate is tropical, semi-humid Sudano-Guinean, with a mean annual rainfall of between 950 and 1,700 millimeters (mm), mainly falling between June and November, rainfall being much higher in the upland areas.
