Unrated

I was just wondering if they'd stoop low enough to do a third one … I own the first 2. .what disappointments they were … what the hell does this third one have to offer? hopefully a fuller plot than the previous 2. on a side note, Underworld Unrated is the movie that is worth watching. .it has so much more to it … i'll stop my fanboy bitching (here) now.

I wasn't talking about teen-targeted movies like AMERICAN PIE and HOSTEL, which practically append the word "Unrated" to their titles in big red headsline type, but more adult fare as was under discussion.

There's an onlooker to the right of Vanessa Redgrave who looks like casting more appropriate to JESUS OF NAZARETH, the spear wound in Reed's abdomen is on the wrong side, the image is highly inflammatory not only as a religious metaphor but as a cunnilingual one, and I've never known Warner or any other major company to trumpet the word "Unrated" in the lower front corner of their DVD packaging.

"Unrated" version, adding further irrelevance to the brutal process of whittling down a movie to appease the MPAA for a rating which will only be meaningful for the three weeks which most films spend in the purgatory of theatres on their way to eternal life on home screens.

Make no mistake, this is no "Unrated" DVD in the sense that an extra F bomb and pair of nipples were spliced back into the mix so as to better popular the racks at Best Buy; the 113 minute version of the film is Quentin's original cut, as it existed before the necessary editing that was undertaken to compact the feature for his collaboration with Robert Rodriguez in Grindhouse.
