The Usha Uthup version has just been re-released on CD in the UK, as part of a 2CD mix set called "The Trip", mixed by Tom Middleton.
This was only a very slightly re-tweaked version of a tune from an early 1980s Bollywood soundtrack, as sung by the well-known Indian singer Usha Uthup.
All the three finalists will perform one by one with Uthup on their regional song.

As the evening made way for early night, Uthup mesmerised the listeners, performing a cover version of the Motown maestro Stevie Wonder†™ s ‘I Just Called to Say I Love You†™ first, followed by her interpretation of John Denver†™ s ‘Country Roads†™.
When Uthup came down to perform at The Times of India†™ s Pune Festival show held at the Ishanya amphitheatre, the night promised to rock.
The crowd swayed to the palpitating rhythms as Uthup, with her enviable energy level and unusual voice, belted out a series of mind-blowing numbers.
Exceptionally versatile with languages, Uthup injected more energy into the evening by singing the Marathi song ‘Kasa Kai Patil†™, ‘Apadi Poray†™ (Tamil), ‘Laung Gwacha†™ (Punjabi) and ‘Prem Je Bhalobasha†™ (Bengali) and the Sufi track ‘Duma Dum Mast Kalandar†™. ‘My, that†™ s the way aha aha†™: that one line from her ‘Shalimar†™ track summarised the mood of the evening as Uthup†™ s brand of pop unfolded its seductive charms.
