We spent a few days in Vanadzor and met Manet's family and a few other Peace Corps volunteers, all of which were great.

Halfway to Vanadzor is the town of Aparan, know for its spring water (which is one of the best selling bottled waters in the country), as well as for being one of the most important towns for holding back the Turks and thus keeping Armenia a sovereign nation.

Vanadzor is only about 80 miles from Yerevan, but there are sizable mountains to traverse to get there and 95% of Armenian taxis are Ladas, which don't run very fast.
