  • I was trying to photograph a gigantic praying mantis that was on my porch railing the other day. I had a zoom lens on my camera so I could get tight in on his face without scaring him away. I was having trouble focusing due to the grass in the background. Anyway, when I finally got his head in focus, he turned his head and look directly into the lens, then he cocked his head, quizzically. His head was a perfect green triangle with rounded corners and his bulging eyes a slightly lighter shade of green. He seemed to be trying to figure out what I was. I was so taken aback by his questioning posture that I didn't snap a picture and he jumped away! Although it is one of my dreams, I think I would make a crappy wildlife photographer!
