- A family of endoplastic rhizopods, typified by the genus Actinophrys (which see), referred to the order Heliozoa or constituting an order Phlœophora (Carus), and containing organisms known as heliozoans or sun-animalcules. Other genera than Actinophrys placed in this family are Ciliophrys and Actinosphærium (which see).
