Why Dany's ego has to govern? it's always better to trade a player too early as opposed to too late. rondo is not a max player but that's what he will demand. i doubt if ainge will agree to a max contract. i also doubt that rondo would be willing to give a hometown discount so trading may be the best way to get value back. one problem is that the rest of the league knows the celtics situation on this and would be inclined not to offer up any good deals. rondo would be a max player if he ever got down a 12-15 'jumper. he would be able to make the other team pay every time they doubled pierce or allen or garnett. unfortunately, shooting ability really can't be taught that well so what you see is what he's got.
