I also have engaged in scambaiting, and the Nigerian scammer who I ended up befriending (for a short period of time) told me that "alaye" is a code word that scammers say to reveal to the other person that they are a scammer (if they believe that the other person is also a scammer, as to not waste each other's time).

What does "Alaye" mean? I've been scambaiting people for a while and I keep seeing that word come up. : r/Yoruba 2026
