- noun A
Inuit parkadesigned to carry a small child also called an Amaut or an amautik
Sorry, no etymologies found.
There is a traditional garment made by Inuit women called an amauti. 10 years ago, Donna Karan sent a buyer out to get several of them because she wanted to use them as 'inspiration' for her winter coat line.
I strongly suggest reading this report from Pauktuutit, the Inuit women's advocacy group, about intellectual property protection issues around the amauti for more about the hows and whys. links via smillaraaq as always.
