• noun A peculiar genus of arciferous anurous batrachians, having teeth in both jaws, dilated processes of the sacrum, a brood-pouch, and the general aspect of the tree-frogs; the type of a family Amphignatho-dontidæ (which see). A. guentheri is an arboreal species of the tropical Andean region.
