  • noun An organic base produced by treating amyl cyanate with caustic potash. There are three amylamines known, which are regarded as ammonias in which 1, 2, and 3 atoms of hydrogen are respectively replaced by 1, 2, and 3 molecules of the radical amyl. The formulas of these bodies, therefore, arc NH2(C5H11), NH(C5H11)2, and N(C5H11)3.
