  • In botany, a suborder of cryptogamic plants of the order Jungermanniales, class Hepaticæ, in which the archegonia are formed at a point below and remote from the apex. It embraces the thalloid genera of the Jungermanniaceæ, of simpler type than the Acrogynæ (which see).
