  • noun A genus of fossil plants of the family Calamariaceæ, having slender, branching, usually striate stems bearing whorls of lanceolate or spatulate leaves with a median nerve, which are fused at their bases into a sheath or annulus. The fruit is a heterosporons spike or strobile.
