- A subfamily of fishes, of the family Scorpœnidœ, exemplified by the genus Apistes, having the vertebræ typical in number (10 abdominal and 14 caudal), and the dorsal fin commencing on the nape or head. They are characteristic of the Indo-Pacific region.
