  • Due to the rotation of the earth, rivers on the northern hemisphere will dig most on the right bank, which becomes steep. Thus, over time, the riverbed will change to the right. It is particularly conspicuous for rivers running straight north, as those of Russia and Siberia, as well as Euphrates and Tigris, which have changed their course far from the ruins of ancient cities. On the southern hemisphere rivers dig to the left. The phenomenon is described by, among others, Albert Einstein.
