  • noun A name applied to three distinct cotton coal-tar colors (benzo-blue BB, BX, and 3G), of the diazo type, derived from benzidine or tolidine. They dye unmordanted cotton various hues of blue in a neutral salt bath. They are similar to some of the diamine blues.
