In colour it is far from being equal to a good compound of Prussian blue and gamboge, and it assumes a dirty buff-yellow on exposure to light and air, the film of blue on the oxalate more or less disappearing.
This mark is of a semi-lunar shape, and whitish; but the colour of the muzzle is buff-yellow.
The choice of color does communicate a sense of sparseness in the hieights though, however, in the Snake River Basin, which is a buff-yellow near the river itself, the grasslands frequently go to green where there is much irrigation.
