  • My current favorite TV quiz show, airing on the Discovery Channel. A concept of genius-like simplicity: passengers enter the cab, thinking it's a normal New York City taxi; once inside, the lights flash and they are inveigled into playing by genial cabbie/quizmaster Ben Bailey.

This is a wonderful show. Its high entertainment value stems from a number of factors: questions at just the right level, the unexpected bliss experienced by the winners, the occasional disconnect between passengers' appearances and their performance, and - most of all - the absolute perfection in his role of the host, comedian Ben Bailey.

My yearning to be on Jeopardy has now been replaced by a rabid desire to be on the Cash Cab.

  • I've recently been seeing ads for this around and about (presumably a new season). Didn't know what it was until I randomed this: sounds great!

I had assumed it was a lame "reality" show in which people get to drive cabs and rake in the most fares.

  • I've seen it once or twice. It's actually not bad, and does suck you into watching it. :)
