  • "Pipe music is divided into two sorts: piobaireachd (pron: 'peeper-uchk') or ceòl mór (pron: 'kyol-more', literally the 'big music'), often described as the classical music of the pipe, and ceòl beg (pron: 'kyol-bek', or the 'little music') comprising marches, strathspeys, reels, slow airs, jigs and hornpipes. This latter category, especially nowadays, is a complete misnomer—at least as regards technical difficulty."
