- A subfamily of non-passerine fissirostral birds, of the family Cypselidæ or swifts; the spine-tailed swifts, differing from the typical swifts or Cypselinæ in having the normal ratio of the phalanges (2, 3, 4, 5). The genera are Chætura, Collocalia, Dendrochelidon, Cypseloides, and Nephæcetes.
