  • A modification of the eye splice that securely attaches a three-stranded rope to an anchor chain. Useful when using a chain/rope combination that passes over a windlass and descends into a chain locker (a compartment in which the anchor chain is stored; usually underneath a windlass or a deck chain pipe situated at the bow or stern). The chain splice allows the rope to follow the chain over the windlass and into the chain locker without tangles.
