  • Nobody else I know really understands Old Bay...

    June 12, 2009

  • I am happy to ship a tin of it to anyone who wants one. :) All part of my unofficial self-declared ambassadorship for the delightful (lactose-free) Cheesecake Bay.

    June 12, 2009

  • DC: Of course, Natty Bo! I'd forgotten that nickname.

C_B: Old Bay! I brought a big box of it with me to Slovenia.

    June 12, 2009

  • I read somewhere that the name comes from the Powhatan word for what is now tidewater Virginia, chesepiooc. Pretty big place, lotsa running water and oysters. :)

  • even us in the West know it is pronounced eastern shure by its natives. I once visited Oxford and the Robert Morris Inn with its one car ferry to Saint Michaels. Thoroughly charming. • Always looks like Cheesecake Bay to me *shakes head*

    June 12, 2009

  • Old Bay! YUM.

    June 12, 2009

  • Are you talking about Natty Bo, ro?

    June 12, 2009

  • That's odd. I don't think of beer. I think of Old Bay seasoning—which as far as I know, doesn't have a jingle.

    June 12, 2009

  • That must be a brilliant jingle, because despite never having heard it, I'm now pretty sure I could sing it.

    June 12, 2009

  • Now I can't get the old National Beer jingle out of my head: Brewed on the shores (beat) of the Chesapeake Baaaay!

    June 12, 2009

  • I don't see why you can't add it too. You can never have too much of the Chesapeake Bay. :-)

    June 11, 2009

  • Hampton Roads. I like the Eastern Shore but never lived there.

    June 11, 2009

  • Other end meaning Eastern Shore or other end meaning Virginiaish? But sure, no problem.

    June 11, 2009

  • Can I add this too? I mean, I'm at the other end of it...
