chained_bear commented on the word chien français
"The chien français is descended from Gascons and the Saintongeois crossed with the English foxhound. Official recognition of the breed took place in 1957." (Simon & Schuster's Guide to Dogs, 1980) The picture shows a tall, sturdy, black and white hound of truly lovely proportions. I'd make fun of the writing (as with the other entries), but the dog's just too beautiful.
