chirocolus

• noun A genus of Brazilian lizards, having the hind feet 5-toed, and the fore feet 4-toed with a rudimentary thumb. C. imbricatus is an example. It is synonymous with Heterodactylus, and belongs to the family Teiidæ, though sometimes made type of a family Chirocolidæ.
