  • Oh man. This is the best.

    October 22, 2008

  • A classic, to be sure. :-)

    October 22, 2008

  • huh?

    October 22, 2008

  • jenn: ground control to Major Tom.

Can't quite see how Major Tom becomes Mao Zedong...

    October 22, 2008

  • Sorry, I'm not a huge music fan. What is the title of the song?

    October 22, 2008

  • Just sing it, yarb. "Clown control to Mao zeDONG..." It fits.

    October 22, 2008

  • I think the title is just "Ground Control to Major Tom".

c_b: well, it certainly scans, but the consonants are quite different aren't they? And why would anyone think "ground control", a well-known phrase, was "clown control"? It doesn't smell right and I suspect a madeupical mondegreen.

    October 22, 2008

  • Wow. I must live under a rock.

    October 22, 2008

  • It isn't madeupical. The vowels only "don't work" if you have a funny accent. ;) You know... like David Bowie.

    October 22, 2008

  • Title is 'Space Oddity'. 50 points have been deducted from yarb.

    October 22, 2008

  • May be pointloss, I know, but who's Mao Zedong?

    October 22, 2008

  • *dons conical hat, takes seat in corner*

    October 22, 2008

  • gangerh: he was a pallid English pop star of the 1970's, noted for his theatrical personas.

    October 22, 2008

  • It makes more sense if written/said Clown Control to Mao Tse Tong except that no one spells it that way anymore so I thought it would be weird.

    October 22, 2008

  • Oh! You mean Gilbert O'Sullivan, yarb. I can see that wouldn't scan. I'd assumed Mao ZeDong was a pornstar.

    October 22, 2008

  • Hahaha!

    October 22, 2008

  • No worries, Lampbane. This is still the best. :)
