  • noun A pale, greenish-yellow, solid oil obtained from the seeds of Garcinia Indica, a tree of the same genus as mangosteen, used in India to adulterate ghee or fluid butter. It is used in some pharmaceutical preparations, in pomatums, etc. Also spelled kokum-butter, -oil.
