Now and then there arises from the very cretinic dregs of humanity an intellectual volcano which, having gathered about itself the proper elements of combustion, heaves off the incumbent mountains which weighed it to earth, rends asunder the cumbrous masses which concealed the gathering of its subterranean fires, and leaps forth in a heaven-reaching flame, whose brightness sheds a dazzling glare over the broad expanse of a continent, or it may be an entire world rejoices in its superhuman brilliancy.
