I ran this command as root cryptsetup luksOpen/dev/sda1 sda1 and mounted my partition as normal user but then, the partition becomes "READONLY".

If there's no way to know, then I believe I can boot from the install DVD after the upgrade is complete, run the cryptsetup LUKSOPEN, vgscan, vgmount, mount the encrypted LVM root, chroot into it, mount the/boot partition, and run fdisk - l to see what I have.

I've been told cryptsetup is great for this and that one would need to make partitions, containers, etc.. completely lost and scared to try anything without a complete tutorial including the partition parts.

The current cryptsetup in Debian unstable already supports LUKS, which was not the case a while ago, if I'm not mistaken.
